    Gabriele Bosisio won the seventh stage of the Giro d'Italia in a solo breakaway Friday, and Giovanni Visconti retained the overall lead. Bosisio, who rides for LPR Brakes, finished the 112-mile hilly leg from Vasco to Pescocostanzo in central Italy in 4 hours, 45 minutes, 5 seconds after joining an early breakaway from the pack.

  • Petacchi leaves Milram after drug ruling by CAS (AP)
    Italian cyclist Alessandro Petacchi was released by the Milram team after his suspension for a doping offense. Petacchi's contract was annulled "by mutual consent," team manager Gerry van Gerwen said Friday. "The decision was made together with him. I don't know if he plans to retire," Van Gerwen said.
