A protein sequence associated with Huntington’s disease may become life-saving vaccine component
(Cure Lab, Inc.) Protective or therapeutic vaccines have to be supplemented with adjuvants, strong facilitators of the immune response. A paper published today in the journal Vaccine by the Massachusetts based biotech company Cure Lab, Inc., describes a novel intra-molecular adjuvant. This adjuvant is a "protein tail" important in neurodegenerative Huntington's disease, that allows antigenic proteins to self-assemble into nano-size particles that safely activate both branches of the immune system.
