Catching Up From E3

Now that E3 is all over with, the entire team has kind of been taking it easy this week. If updates are a bit slow right now, well, that's because we're all pretty beat. Sorry. Not like there's really all that much going on this week (well, except for Peter Moore leaving Microsoft for EA -- that was a pretty big surprise).

It's nice to have a little breather after weeks of pre-E3 planning and then the E3 madness. Today I worked from home and was pretty stoked to find out Castlevania: Symphony of the Night had hit PSN. So I downloaded it and played that for a bit. I'd never actually played through the english version of the game, so I was reminded of how hilariously bad the voice acting is. Game still rocks though. Totally worth the $10.

Speaking of Castlevania, someone on the boards just posted a picture of poster for the upcoming movie. Hrm.

Anyway, I guess E3 was pretty good overall. The new format was better in some ways but also really annoying in others (you can read all about that in our little bitch fest). But either way, we made the most of it, and I think the end result was pretty good.
Although, like always, I was too preoccupied to really enjoy the show. For the press conferences, for example, Mark and I were too concerned about making sure our live video streams went well to actually watch them.

The Microsoft conference, as seen from behind our streaming laptop.

Our area at the Nintendo press conference had a big flat screen monitor in the way,
so even though we were there we were watching it on TV.

At Sony we were behind the stage so we didn't even get to really see the thing.

But considering over the week we got to see so many new games at E3, I'd say it was all worth it. If you're interested, I went on the All Games Interactive podcast yesterday to talk about this year's E3, so you can hear a lot more of my thoughts there (it's about halfway into the podcast I think). Actually, I also spoke about how to get a job writing about games and answered a lot of other questions that we often get, so some of you might be interested in that stuff too.

Anyway, back to SOTN. Oh, and Rainbow Six Vegas - I finally got another copy since Luke never gave back the one I let him borrow. :P
