Cool Idea: Play Table





You might say the BCXSY Play Table ($5,999) is the Rubik's Cube of furniture. The coffee table has a slide puzzle top concealing sixteen storage boxes below, and one missing piece. In order to solve this puzzle, or to retrieve what you've stored inside, you must move one square top piece at a time, until it reveals the appropriate square. I love the idea of this and I think it's actually quite good-looking, which is important, although it's too masculine and geeky for moi. I suppose it acts a bit like a safe, making it difficult for people (kids, perhaps) to get access to your possessions. Despite its "playfulness," It's kind of a pain-in-the-butt, especially if you can't remember which unit you put the DVD box set of your favorite show in . . .
