An Open Letter To Anonymous

Glosslip received the following letter as part of our request for creative contributions, since today is celebrate Anonymous day, I humbly offer the following from a person who wishes to remain mostly anonymous:

Dear Anonymous

“Bless The Geeks and the Children”

Dear A.

I have been so wanting to write you, lo, these many months make a little confession. So here it is… I confess that I think I love you. I’m not just saying it. I really think I love you as a person…not just for your dashing good looks and your clever, clever wit. I could go on and on and on and I might do one day, but for now I want to tell you some things that I hope may be useful to you.

Seriously though (hate being serious) you seem like something new in the world?. I get bit giddy thinking how this all might turn out 10-20-50 years from now. Can you imagine, even 100 years from now…Anonymous could be doing anything…that’s what I see. Theoretically, at least, you can’t be corrupted. But you have power. Look around you in the “real” world ….and ask yourselves who has power? Not the beasts (maybe some geeks) and not the
children, because…they have no money, no property and control no resources. Just like many of you. But you do have power. Astonishing! In the broad strokes of history this really could be a Gutenberg moment we have going here. Maybe? We won’t know for a long time, but this feels new and big to me.

So just for you and only you I thought I would like to try and contribute something in honor of the upcoming NO FAIRGAME picket. I would like to share with you a little about how un-fairgame has affected me, although, I was never in Scientology. I am a “cult critic” in general but not really specifically a critic of Scientology. But un-fairgame has affected me and many, many thousands of other people from many other cults, specifically when they are exiting and looking for resources. I think my story is a good illustration of specifically how this happened in the past and is happening and affecting people now.

Me, broad strokes….I lost close to 20 years of my life in a different space ship cult. Small, but unquestionably malevolent. Different myths, teachings, whatever. Process, end result are the same, IMO. All cults are the same to me . They are effectively “psychopath school”. Deceptive recruiting, absolute devotion to the “cause” which is always the ultimate cause and can never be questioned. Individuals don’t matter, only the leaders and the “group” matter. Once you become a “true believer” you feel you should be ready and able at any time to sacrifice anything for the “cause”. So if you are at all successful in the group you will of
necessity take on some of the characteristics of the leader/leaders who are typically sociopathic/psychopathic personalities. To have no emotions (low affect) is what the group members are taught to strive for. This is what I was taught and what I believed I should
be. With LRH and CO$ you get the added bonus that the big freak was also a paranoid schizophrenic. That is a deadly serious combo platter you got there. So my dearest, darling Anonymous, please, please, please never forget that this is what you are dealing with
and they will do whatever they feel they can get away with. Think of CO$— at its core as a pure predator. There is no conscience. There is no there, there. I don’t want anything to happen to you, so be careful.

I started coming to my senses about 1994-1995. For me it was like I caught a piece of thread from a cloth, grabbed it and the whole thing unraveled. After years and years of not allowing myself to think or do anything critical of the group I started to question, just in my own mind. I had actually dissociated (not the same as forgetting) from events that had occurred in the group and these memories started to come crashing back in. Once I was able to “question” I then felt a strong need to find out everything I could about this group and so I started researching, researching, researching. No “intertubes” back in the day, guys. But of course
you do have them now, so if I lose you with some of these names go to XENUTV or google. There is lots of stuff out there in 2008! In 1994/1995 , I had to hoof it on down to many libraries, county records buildings, court houses. I made lots of phone calls and in
that process I found out about something called the Cult Awareness Network (keep in mind late 94, early 95). I went to some of the meetings at Priscilla Coate’s house in Glendale. I met many people coming out of various groups as well as concerned family members
and people who, like Priscilla were “just” concerned citizens/volunteers. I met Dennis Erlich who often attended and it was during this time in early 1995 that his house was ransacked by
the CO$. He described this to me at the time and I can still see his face as he talked about it. It was freaking crazy what they did. He was in a state of shock, I think. Who wouldn’t be? I
hope the recording of this event gets a more prominent spot on Vimeo/Youtube (the full length one from xenutv). That is fairgame. What freaked me out then and now was that the Glendale police officer only stayed about half an hour and then left and let the CO$ hired creeps do whatever they wanted for many hours at Dennis house. Can you imagine?

You can search these sites for more details about the demise ofCAN, but suffice to say it no longer exists because of CO$. Another chilling detail… all the information that CAN had, phone
numbers, contact information for all kinds of people, including volunteers and ex-members from lots of groups ended up in the hands of Scientology. So that would include me. Scientology could have information somewhere about me because I attended CAN meetings in 1994/1995. I don’t want to imply that I am concerned that someone from CAN wrote down my name and what group I was in. I just don’t think anyone could have foreseen that CO$ would end up with this information. So to continue, many of the former CAN volunteers were worn down by fairgame tactics. Google– Cynthia Kisser. There may be others here who know more about the events of those times than I do. Please share. CAN (prior to 1995) helped a lot of people and had chapters in a number of areas. CAN was constantly spied on by Scientology plants and everyone always had to be warned that nothing they said in these meetings could be considered safe. Another resource that was wiped out largely due
to CO$ was a cult clinic that used to be located in Los Angeles that offered professional help to people coming out of these groups who had limited resources. This was sometime in the eighties maybe to the early nineties. So for about thirty years or more CO$ has harassed and hounded all kinds of people, many of them volunteers who just want to help people coming out of destructive cults or groups. This is relevant today for instance to the people coming
out of the FLDS. Because CO$ harassed so many people for so many years there will be almost nothing available to those people in terms of helping resources. In fact it is much more likely that another group will try to recruit them because they are so vulnerable. There is no CAN and there are really only a handful of people who do anything that I know about these days. The AFF (now ICSA) at one point was infiltrated by a member of Scientology. She
volunteered/worked in their office and was befriended by the people there. She gathered information on their activities and took it back to the cult. CO$ is a relatively small cult but they have had a huge impact on what were already extremely limited resources for anyone coming out of any group, not just Scientology. Resources of substance are probably more scarce than ever. This is in no small part thanks to the cult of Scientology. This is also something that worries me personally very much. Andreas alluded to this in one of his interviews about the people coming out. Many of them are extremely fragile. I can speak from personal experience that coming to terms with a cult experience is right up there on the
scale of horrific traumatic life events that you would not wish on anyone. Add to that the prospect of reintegrating into the larger society which can be terrifying. Yes, other cults do use the same tactics as Scientology but none that I know of has been as historically ruthless on such a broad scale. Not that they don’t try because they do.

So my effort here is to illustrate an even broader scale atrocity that CO$ has contributed to. Not just for people in CO$ but for lots of other people who desperately need all kinds of help coming to terms with what they have been through. Like people leaving the Sea Org these people may have had very limited contact with the outside world, they may have very little education, no money, etc. Cults are unfortunately pretty common, 3-4000 of various sizes in
the US. These groups/cults commit all kinds of crimes, abuse of members, assaults, fraud, you name it they all do it to one degree or another. And they mostly get away with it. There are all kinds of theories as to why this is so; I have a pretty simple one. When people are vulnerable an absolute world view can be very comforting and very enticing. Anyone who has been in a cult knows how satisfying it is to “know” absolutely. This is something that we
as human beings are bound to struggle with. But philosophy is not important in this discussion today, IMO. What is important to me is you Anonymous. What you have done so far is amazing, amazing, amazing. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

What I know and what I love about you, my dear masked friends is how dang smart for one thing. For another you can (and already are) making up some of the losses caused by CO$ by just educating people and exposing them to information in a way that has never been possible before. So when people start falling into that extreme absolute world view you can give them a nudge and say, hey..waaaaz up! Free Hugs! Have some Caek! Laugh, sing, dance!
I can’t find anything wrong with that.

Alright, that’s my contribution for now. I hope you find it useful. Also, in keeping with my motto of always embracing your inner lameness…and pointing you back to the heading above, I hope you will check out that song (which you are too young to remember)
Bless the Beasts and the Children….Oh and just for giggles how about One Tin Soldier (Billy Jack). Can you use that in a vid? Come on, I am a child of the seventies, we invented lameness! Feel me?!

Later, Cheers and XXOOXXOO
