N. Korea says ready to cooperate over nuclear verification
North Korea said Friday it is ready to cooperate with its counterparts in the six-party process for denuclearizing the country to verify a list of Pyongyang's nuclear programs that it submitted last week. In a statement, a Foreign Ministry spokesman criticized the other countries in the six-way talks, saying that while Pyongyang is making progress with disablement activities at its key nuclear plant, the others are slow in delivering promised compensation.

Pakistans Khan says N. Korea got used centrifuges in 2000
North Korea received used centrifuges from Pakistan in 2000 when President Pervez Musharraf had assumed power, with the consignment being sent in a North Korean aircraft under the supervision of the army, according to Pakistan's disgraced nuclear scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan. Khan, currently under house arrest in Islamabad, made the revelation in a written response to a series of questions posed by Kyodo News.

22 civilians die, parliamentarian killed in Afghan attacks
At least 22 civilians, including a woman and a child, were killed in U.S.-led coalition air strikes in eastern Afghanistan and an Afghan member of parliament was assassinated in southern part of the country, officials said Saturday. Coalition force helicopters attacked two vehicles carrying civilians in the Wanwegal district of Nuristan Province in eastern Afghanistan on Friday, killing 22 and wounding eight others, Ziaurehman, the district chief of Wanwegal, said.

China offered gifts to N. Korea during Chinese VPs visit: report
China offered to North Korea 5,000 tons of jet fuel and 100 million yuan (about $14.6 million) as a gift when Vice President Xi Jinping visited Pyongyang last month, Yonhap News Agency reported Friday. Quoting multiple sources on North Korean affairs, Yonhap reported from the Chinese city Shenyang that the offer was to follow a precedent set during a previous visit to the North by a Chinese Communist Party and government delegation.
